Phil Laak – Professional Poker Player Review Series

Apart from his general reputation for being an international poker player, Phil Laak is better known for his unique style sense to impress a lot allover the world. Whenever he wears his trendy sunglass, he looks a Hollywood actor rather than a poker player. This is the reason why this stylish man has been named to be “Unabomber”. The man is greatly absorbed in the studies of Meta physical universe and believes in the process of reading the mind of the opponent player while playing to win it.

The man even though admits that poker is his passion and not profession, has been one of the most influential Poker Players of the contemporary times. Apart from his involvement in poker, Phil Laak has some other aspects of his profession too. For example, he has been a sports bet broker earlier and now besides being a poker player, he is also a real estate developer and a market speculator. This man of diverse interest originates from Dublin, Ireland and grew up ion Massachusetts.

Among the big players of poker in the field, Phil Laak is one of the new comers but his appearance and style of playing reveals that he will go far in the industry and will become one of the best players of poker. It was in the year 1999 when Phil Laak started his career as a poker player, and within a short span of time excelled him in the field with his other counterparts. It was only the tournaments in reality that gave him his due popularity in this discipline and he became a hero since then. Most of his success came running from his world poker tours.

One of his other achievements came with winning the WPT Celebrity International; however, Phil Laak reached the mount of his success when won the heads-up play at the $2500 pot in the limit hold’em. Last year, that was 2007, Phil Laak grabbed two strong finishes at the World Series of Poker. Apart from this finest achievement, Phil Laak has also won some other small awards too in this field.

Most interestingly, Phil Laak is more popularly known for his uncommonly gestures that he uses to do on the game table. The strange man hides his face from the opponent players so that no body can read his face to win the game. In this connection, his sweatshirt became famous that he usually wears while playing the games at poker table. Funny is that, you will find your favorite poker player to celebrate his every victory with dancing and push-ups. This is one thing that made him immensely popular for what his admirers like him more. Phil Laak has a girl friend called Jennifer Tilly, who also belongs to the World Of Poker and already has won a WSOP Ladies Night Event. Now it depends on the time and his opportunities in what way Phil Laak climbs up the ladders of the glory and fame in the world of poker in the years to come.

Poker For Dummies

Poker For Dummies

$11.99

Poker is America’s national card game, and its popularity continues to grow. Nationwide, you can find a game in progress everywhere. If you want to play, you can find poker games on replicas of 19th century riverboats or on Native American tribal lands. You can play poker at home with the family or online with opponents from around the world. Like bowling and billiards before it, poker has moved out from under the seedier side of its roots and is flowering in the sunshine. Maybe you’ve never played poker before and you don’t even know what a full house is. Poker For Dummies covers the basics. Or perhaps you’ve played for years, but you just don’t know how to win. This handy guide will help you walk away from the poker table with winnings, not lint, in your pockets. If you’re a poker expert, you still can benefit – some of the suggestions may surprise you, and you can certainly learn from the anecdotes from professional players like T.J. Cloutier and Stu Unger. Know what it takes to start winning hand after hand by exploring strategy; getting to know antes and betting structure; knowing your opponents, and understanding the odds. Poker For Dummies also covers the following topics and more: Poker games such as Seven-Card Stud, Omaha, and Texas Hold’em Setting up a game at home Playing in a casino: Do’s and don’ts Improving your play with Internet and video poker Deciphering poker sayings and slang Ten ways to read your opponent’s body language Playing in poker tournaments Money management and recordkeeping Knowing when and how to bluff Poker looks like such a simple game. Anyone, it seems, can play it well – but that’s far from the truth. Learning the rules can be quick work, but becoming a winning player takes considerably longer. Still, anyone willing to make the effort can become a good player. You can succeed in poker the way you succeed in life: by facing it squarely, getting up earlier than the next person, and working harder and smarter than the competition. Foreword by Chris Moneymaker, 2003 World Series of Poker Champion.
